An equally theatrical experiment in schlock metal, new wave, goth, and industrial rock, Marilyn Manson’s 1996 album Antichrist Superstar made him public enemy number one in a brewing American culture war. Co-produced by Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, the concept CD did exactly as the title foretold, making Manson a superstar and--in the eyes of the Christian right--the Antichrist itself.
